Lancaster Book Sale

(Alex can't believe his eyes)

Or should I say Book Steal! No we didn't steal anything, but the prices certainly were. What a bar-goon! What a ti-ra-ra-gundi-yea!!

(Long line outside and 35 degrees)

I ended up with 16 books for $14!! Six hardcover and the rest trade paperbacks. They also had tons of the little pocket paperbacks, but even with glasses they are too tough on the eyes, so I stayed away from those. This should tide me over for a bit now.

Some highlights for me - "The Corrections" , "I Know This Much is True" and "The Dogs of Babel" (where a dog is the only witness to a death) - all recommended to me by my sister-in-law Cathie; "Silence of the Lambs" hardcover (read it a long time ago), "The Russia House" by spy author great John Le Carre, and an impulse last minute buy - "Dharma Punx" - true story of a punk rocker who turns to Buddhism to help straighten out/save his life. Where to start....

(Cathie's done - I think)
(Tracy Lords bares all)

Just to clarify- As much as I like biography- Traci Lords was for MY HUSBAND who likes porn more than books. In Jeff's words "at least he's reading".
This is becoming a yearly tradition that can only be shared by those who truly appreciate a good deal.
Gary also enjoyed the cookbook I bought him. Porn & food- the life of a King.

I somehow missed the Porn and Food book :{

Only downside this year was heading over to the CD's 15 minutes into the sale, only to see some dude stuffing a box handfulls at a time that his son was holding. Easily 60 CD's in there. I considered giving him a quick shot to the ___ and taking the box, but thought better of it.

Next year, I'm getting in line 30 min early, going straight for the CD's, and will wage a war of wills with this flea market bottom feeder. See how happy he is to get there and only find "Animotion" and "Kermit the Frog" CD's left.

I'm very sad ...

I was not invited to the book sale, and you know how much I love books.

I know I mentioned it at G&C's house that one afternoon, and I'm pretty sure I brought it up at wing night. I just figured you didn't pursue it further due to the pallet that had recently been delivered to you from Amazon.com :)

I read dharma punx a couple years ago- but I didn't really like it. He got kind of repetative and preachy... but it had a huge impact on my friend Brett so I guess it's a personal thing.

Dave, I'm sorry we slighted you. We kinda get blinded by literature at this time of the year. I promise to let you know next year. Its always in April.
Jeff- Aniamotion was there & you didn't grab it!!!!

Cathie,

Thanks. Despite Jeff's reference to my pallet of books. You can never have too many books.

Yes, Jeff you did mention it but alas my memory is a thing of the past ...

:)
